Skardu, nestled in Pakistan's Gilgit-Baltistan region, serves as the gateway to K2, Earth's second highest peak. At 2,228 meters (7,310 feet) above sea level, it's surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. K2 Base Camp, notably Concordia, sits at the junction of Baltoro Glacier and Godwin-Austen Glacier. At 4,700 meters (15,420 feet), it offers awe-inspiring vistas of K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I, and Gasherbrum II. Skardu boasts attractions like the historic Skardu Fort, Satpara Lake, and Shangrila Resort. Adventure seekers flock here for trekking, mountaineering, and jeep safaris. Trekking to K2 Base Camp begins at Askole village, passing through campsites like Paiju and Goro II. The journey showcases stunning landscapes, massive glaciers, and towering peaks, but it demands physical fitness and readiness for challenging conditions.
Day 2 (Departure for Skardu or Chilas)
Early hours transfer to airport for flight to Skardu, which is very spectacular mountain flight If unable to fly, due to bad weather.
Alternately, we take two day drive to Skardu, along the Karakorum Highway.
We stay overnight at Chilas, over heading by the Nanga Parbat, the second highest peak in Pakistan.
Day 3 (Visit to Skardu)
Day 4 (Departure for Askoli)
Drive to Askoli by jeep via Shigar Valley (6-7 hrs) 3000Mtr.
Meals & O/n in camp It is spectacular drive from Skardu to Askoli; the jeep road crosses the Braldu River three times and passes the villages of Dassu, Apligon, Pakora,Hoto, Chongo and Thongal.
There are hot Sulphur Springs just 20 minutes behind Thongal.
Around the hot springs are copper colored stones known as Limpi Kiser (Kiser Fort) King Kiser was a mythical ruler with magical powers- dozens of legends tell of his exploits in Baltistan, Nagar and Hunza
Day 5 (Trek to Jhola)
Trek to Johla (5-6 hrs), meals & O/n in camp.
Today we have panoramic view of Bakhor Das peak 5809m) also mighty BiafoGlacier.
Follow the riverside trail to the confluence of the Biafo andDumordo rivers.
Cross the formidable Domordo River, which flows from the
Panmah glaciers, on a cable to Johla, camp at Johla at 3300m.
Day 6 (Trek to Paiyu)
Trek to Paiyu (6-7 hrs) (3650Mrs) Meals & O/n in camp
This is an undulating walk, difficult at times, with the first views of dramatic mountains ahead.
There is a rest stop by some tamarisk trees beside the stream flowing down from Paiyu Peak, where we saw ibex tracks and fox spore.
The trail climbs to a vantage point from which you see the snout of Baltoro Glacier and, in the far distance, a magnificent panorama of the Cathedral Towers and, left of them, the unmistakable triangle of K2.
Day 7 (Free day at Paiyu)
Day 8 (Trek to Khubursay)
Trek to Khubursay (4-5-hrs). Beautiful views of Great Trango & UliBiaho Towers.
The tail traverses the glacier angling gently towards its southeast margin.
Exit the glacier in to the ablation valley at Liligo.
The route alternates between the lateral moraine and the glacier, heading out onthe glacier to avoid the outflow from the advancing Liligo glacier.
Continue trek to Khubursay. Overnight stay in Camp.
Day 9 (Trek to Urdukas)
Day 10 (Trek to Goro-II)
Day 11 (Visit to Concordia)
We reach Concordia(4,600m) where the Baltoro, Abruzzi and Godwin Austen Glaciers converge, within a radius of 15 kilometres there are an incredible 41 peaks over 6,500m with 4 over 8,000m including K2 (8611m), the second highest mountain of the world. Concordia, the meeting place of five glaciers is named after "Place de la Concorde" in Paris.
Day 12 (Visit to K-2 BASE CAMP)
Day 13 (Trek to SHACHSPONG)
Day 14 (Trek back to KHUBURSAY)
Day 15 (Trek back to Paiyu)
Day 17 (Back to Askoli)
Day 18 (Back to Skardu)
